FORT MYERS/NAPLES – Always at the forefront of technology, area LASIK Specialist Jonathan M. Frantz, M.D., now offers the most advanced, personalized treatment in laser vision correction with the area’s only VISX STAR S4 WavePrint™ System.
Laser vision correction continues to provide a higher degree of freedom from glasses and contact lenses to millions of active people throughout the country. “We’re excited to be the first practice in our area to offer the first truly personalized approach to laser vision correction with the VISX STAR S4 WavePrint™ System,” said Dr. Frantz. The System offers a new level of personalization to the LASIK procedure previously unavailable in this area. Now, with the WavePrint ™ System, Dr. Frantz can develop a laser vision plan based on each patient’s personal vision needs.
The WavePrint™ System incorporates a host of VISX technologies, including the WavePrint™ Map, the 3D ActiveTrak™, and Variable Spot Scanning (VSS™). The 3D ActiveTrak is the only system with three-dimensional tracking that follows every involuntary movement of the eye during treatment. VSS allows for a larger treatment area, offering the physician greater flexibility in developing a more personalized laser vision procedure, when pupil size is a consideration. Dr. Frantz has been offering the ActiveTrak and Variable Spot Scanning at The Center for Laser Vision Correction since 2001.
The WavePrint™ Map, referred to as a ‘fingerprint of your vision,’ obtains a precise and detailed analysis of your entire optical system,” explained Dr. Frantz. “The data available with this new technology not only personalizes treatment, but also enables me to immediately and accurately assess whether a patient is a good candidate for laser vision correction.” Honored as one of the top providers of laser vision correction in the United States by VISX, Inc., Dr. Frantz has been performing Laser Vision Correction since 1987 and was selected by the FDA as the original principal investigator in the clinical trials that led to the initial approval of the Excimer laser. Dr. Frantz performed almost all of the 500 cases done locally that led to the FDA approval of the Excimer laser. He performed the first Excimer laser procedure in the State of Florida for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. The Custom-CAP procedure is meant to be performed on patients who have decentered treatments and who complain of such visual defects as starbursts, glare, doubling of vision, night vision disturbances, or blurring.
Dr. Frantz has been providing laser vision correction at the main offices of Florida Eye Health on New Brittany Boulevard in Fort Myers since 1996. In 1999, he installed the first on-site laser for Laser Vision Correction in Naples at his office at 2100 N. Tamiami Trail at Gateway Plaza.
