Two Florida Eye Health Ophthalmologists, Cataract and LASIK Specialist Jonathan M. Frantz, MD, FACS, and General Ophthalmologist and Uveitis Specialist Jeffrey L. Willig, MD, have been selected for inclusion in the new 2012 Edition of the “Guide to America’s Top Ophthalmologists.” This is Dr. Willig’s third year and Dr. Frantz’s seventh year to earn this honor from the Consumers’ Research Council of America, an independent research company based in Washington, DC, that evaluates professional services throughout America. The selection process is based on a point value system that awards points for education, years in practice, and affiliations with professional organizations. Dr. Frantz has also been named in Best Doctors in America database since 2005.
Dr. Frantz established Florida Eye Health in Fort Myers in 1994. His growing practice now has locations in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Punta Gorda, Lehigh Acres and Naples. As a two-year fellowship-trained cornea and refractive specialist, Dr. Frantz concentrates his practice on cataract removal, iLASIK laser vision correction, evaluation and treatment of eye diseases, and routine eye care.
Always on the leading edge of technology, Dr. Frantz.has been a pioneer of laser technology since 1987. He recently became the first and only cataract surgeon to bring Bladeless Laser Cataract Surgery to southwest Florida and also performed the first ReSTOR CustomLens implant in 2005. As the area’s leading LASIK surgeon in both experience and technology, he is the only area surgeon who offers the bladeless iLASIK technology.
Dr. Willig joined the medical team at Florida Eye Health in January 2012. He sees patients in the Fort Myers and Naples offices for medical conditions and uveitis, which is a swelling and irritation of the uvea, the middle layer of the eye, which provides most of the blood supply to the retina.
In addition to Dr. Frantz and Dr. Willig, the Florida Eye Health medical team includes two other ophthalmologists and six board-certified optometric physicians who provide routine eye exams and management of eye diseases.
