Eighteen years ago, Dr. Jonathan Frantz started Florida Eye Health in a medical office building at Lee Memorial Hospital and moved to his current Fort Myers location at New Brittany Boulevard in 1996. He now heads a multi-physician, multi-office practice that incorporates the latest technologies for bladeless laser cataract surgery, bladeless iLASIK laser vision correction, comprehensive eye exams and cosmetic surgeries.
Under Dr. Frantz’s leadership, his practice has grown from three employees to over 85 and includes five offices throughout Southwest Florida – Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Punta Gorda, Lehigh Acres, and Naples. With each new service, new jobs were created and the practice’s customers enjoyed a higher quality of service and the convenience of having their procedures performed in a familiar and friendly setting.
Yet even after 18 years in business, Dr. Frantz and his practice continues to hear comments from people saying that they get Florida Eye Health confused with other eye care practices in our area with similar names. However, ask most people in the area if they recognize Dr. Jonathan Frantz’s name, they say yes. It is because of the Frantz name recognition that he made the decision to change the name of his practice to Frantz EyeCare. “It just more clearly identifies our practice,” said Dr. Frantz.
“Obviously changing the name of our practice is a huge undertaking and affects everything that identifies us in any way – every sign, all printed materials, all advertising, internet listings, name tags, our website and facebook page, and the list goes on and on,” added Dr. Frantz.
“Transitioning from Florida Eye Health to Frantz EyeCare won’t happen with a flick of a switch. It will take many months before everything in the practice and online is converted to the new name. Over the next few months, you’ll begin seeing advertising with the new name and the other things will gradually change from one name to the other,” said Dr. Frantz.
Even though the name of the practice is changing, some things will remain the same – the phone numbers, the locations of the offices, and the domain name of it’s website www.BetterVision.net will remain the same. “But more importantly, our mission and values will remain the same,” said Dr. Frantz. The major factor in the success of Florida Eye Health, and now Frantz EyeCare, is that Dr. Frantz, as the medical director and owner of the practice, believes and trusts in his team to provide patient-focused care that exceeds the expectations of it’s patients. The practice also recently converted to electronic health records (EHR) to better serve it’s patients and remain one of the most technology-advanced practices in the area.
