I have been honored with two very special awards recently and wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude.
I would like to thank the people of Southwest Florida who voted me the “Best Cataract Surgeon in Southwest Florida” in the News-Press readers poll. I have had the honor to perform cataract surgery on tens of thousands of people from Southwest Florida, as well as from around the country and abroad. Each procedure is just as special as the one prior because of the visual outcomes my patients are experiencing. I hardly consider doing cataract surgery a “job”. It is a passion, my calling, and I consider myself lucky to have been given the skill to perform cataract surgery at such a high level. It’s a gift that very few people have, one I take seriously, and something that allows me to give our moms, dads, brothers, sisters and neighbors the gift of better vision.
I am still excited when I see my patients after surgery. They tell me stories of having not remembered a time they did not have glasses and now no longer need them. One recent patient that comes to memory had such bad cataracts that she was considered legally blind. She could not drive herself to the grocery store and had become isolated from her friends and family due to her inability to see and to get around. After her cataract surgery, she is now able to drive, read and enjoy life without glasses! This is just one of the many stories I am so grateful to hear from my patients. Suffice to say, it is an incredible journey I travel each day trying to restore the eyesight of so many lovely and deserving people.
I was also recently honored by the publication “Best Doctors in America” as one of the top cataract surgeons in the country. This honor is very humbling because only the top 2% of cataract surgeons qualify for inclusion on this distinguished list. Doctors chosen are rigorously evaluated by other surgeons in their specialty. My selection means that the top cataract surgeons in the country consider me to be their peer. I believe I am one of only two cataract surgeons in Southwest Florida to have received this honor.
To my patients past, present and future: thanks for the confidence you have shown in me and my practice by allowing me to perform your surgery. I hope to continue to help people improve their vision for many years to come.
